Soundsnap Sound Effects License

IMPORTANT NOTICE — LICENSE UPDATE (2025):

Soundsnap has merged its former Pro and Pro+ licenses into a single unified license. All subscribers now receive the full commercial rights previously granted under Pro+, including use in broadcast television, radio, VOD/OTT platforms, advertising, films and trailers of any budget, apps, video games, and all other media. If you previously held Pro or Pro+ rights, or downloaded Sounds under an older plan, those Sounds are now automatically covered under this unified license.

This is a license agreement between OJOO LIMITED, a Cyprus limited liability company, doing business as Soundsnap, and its successors and assigns ("Soundsnap" or "we" or "us" or "our") and you, or the entity on whose behalf you are entering this agreement with (“You,” "you", or "your") with respect to your non-exclusive usage of the copyrightable works of authorship offered under the terms of this License (including the sounds, sound effects, loops, sound recordings, and one-shots) (the “Sounds”) offered on our website and platforms (this “License”).

By purchasing a Subscription Level from us, you will receive a license to the Sounds based upon which Subscription Level that you purchase. You thus agree to be bound by the following license terms and conditions in relation to the sound recording you have downloaded:

This Soundsnap License is governed by the Terms of Service displayed on the website. Any use of the Sounds other than as authorized under this Sounds License, our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Copyright Law is prohibited.

1. DEFINITIONS


  • "Creative Work(s)" means various creative work(s) that include the Sounds (or are based upon the Sounds), such as synchronization of, or inclusion in, the Sounds including moving images, video games, videos, podcasts, musical arrangements, dramatizations, sound recordings, multi-media artworks, productions, physical products, and/or any other form of creative works in which the Sounds may be included in, recast, transformed, synchronized with, and/or adapted.
  • "Original Author" means the individual or entity who created the Sounds.

2. LICENSE GRANT

Subject to the terms and conditions of this License and our Terms of Service, Soundsnap hereby grants You a worldwide, non-exclusive, revocable, perpetual (for the duration of the applicable copyright) license to:

  • Use, integrate, edit, modify, reproduce, sync, and include the Sounds in any Creative Work, including but not limited to: films, television, broadcast, radio, VOD/OTT platforms, commercials, digital ads, social media content, online videos, podcasts, trailers, corporate materials, video games, apps, software, installations, physical products, and all other forms of media now known or later developed.
  • Publicly display, publicly distribute, publicly transmit, publicly broadcast, perform, publish, and monetize Creative Works that incorporate the Sounds.
  • Make such modifications to the Sounds as are technically necessary to exercise the rights granted hereunder.

Attribution is not required, but where practical, we encourage you to credit Soundsnap or the creator community.

All rights not expressly granted to You under this License are reserved by Soundsnap.

3. LICENSE RESTRICTIONS

The license granted above is expressly made subject to and limited by the following restrictions.

You may not:

  • Resell, rent, sublicense, transmit, or distribute the Sounds "as is" in any context, including but not limited to CDs, sample libraries, torrents, mobile apps, plugins, preset packs, or any distribution platform (free or paid).
  • Use any Sound, music loop, or one-shot to create sample packs, expansion packs, sound libraries, presets, or any similar product, whether sold or given away.
  • Use the Sounds for trademark purposes, including attempting to register any Sound, loop, or one-shot as a trademark for a business. (Fictional in-film uses or ringtones are permitted.)
  • Offer or impose any terms on Creative Works that restrict or alter the terms of this License, or attempt to sublicense the Sounds independently.
  • Distribute the Sounds with access-control technology or in a way that allows others to extract, copy, or use them outside of your Creative Work.
  • Copy all or a significant part of the Soundsnap library for redistribution "as is", or for training any external library or repository.
  • Use "Soundsnap Beats" or any music loops uploaded by Loop Masters in isolation and unmodified. They must be part of an original musical composition.
  • Use the Sounds or metadata to train machine learning models (generative or non-generative), or include them in any AI system, dataset, or training process.

4. SUBSCRIPTION

Soundsnap now offers one unified subscription. Your subscription provides the complete set of rights described in this License.

If You previously held an account or downloaded Sounds under older plan structures (including Pro or Pro+), all such Sounds are automatically covered under this unified License.

Soundsnap may update subscription features from time to time. Continued use of your subscription constitutes agreement to such updated terms as posted on our website.

5. TERM OF LICENSE; TERMINATION

Subject to the terms and conditions above, this License is perpetual (for the duration of copyright of each Sound).

Soundsnap may release Sounds under different terms or discontinue distribution of certain Sounds at any time; however, any Sounds You have already downloaded remain licensed under this License.

This License will terminate automatically upon Your breach of its terms. Creative Works already distributed by You under this License remain licensed to third parties, provided they continue to comply with the permitted uses.
