About Guy Cockcroft
I'm a sound designer, working in the games industry. I work mainly on film tie-ins. Most notably, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Batman Begins, Ice Age 2, and most recently, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
Most of the sounds that I have contributed are part of a massive collection of what I call "physics sounds". They're not very interesting to listen to separately, but they are all useful to people like me working in games, and perhaps to people doing post production work. They are all impact sounds that you can use to model physical objects in games. I selected about 100 different objects, and recorded them impacting with hard and soft surfaces from different heights. This gives you a set of sounds for each object to play under different circumstances. Sounds insane? Well, yes. Yes it is. But it's all useful stuff.
I've also contributed a lot of gun foley sounds, and I've also sampled my 1978 Rhodes piano. Again, the samples should be seen as a complete set. I have created a multi-setup in kontakt which I could also provide if you ask me nicely ;)
All my sounds are "raw" recordings - there's no compression or other post processing on them (apart from the conversion from 24/96 down to a user-friendly 44/16). I prefer to leave those judgements to the people using the sounds.
Cheers!
