About Ioannis Kalantzis
Composer and sound artist.
Ioannis Kalantzis has studied composition and computer music at the Conservatoire National Supèrieur de Musique et Danse of Lyon, France with Philippe Manoury, Marco Stroppa and Dennis Lorrain. The music of Ioannis Kalantzis has received a worldwide recognition in the field of electronic avant garde music.
He has received distinctions and prizes in contests as CIMESP'97 (Brazil), Papayioannou '98, (Greece) Pierre Schaeffer '99 (Italy), Arts 2001 (Spain), Grame/EOC 2002 (France) and Miniaturas Electroacústicas 2008 (Spain).
His work has been selected for the official concerts of the International Computer Music Conference ( ICMC'99 Beijing, China ), (ICMC 2001 Havana, Cuba), (ICMC 2003 Singapore), (ICMC 2005 Barcelona, Spain), (ICMC2007 Copenhagen, Denmark), (ICMC2010 New York, USA).
His pieces has been performed worldwide in many other international events in Greece, France, England, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Ukraine, S. Korea, Chile, Australia, Canada and USA.
His work has been released on CDs in Brazil by UNESP/FASM and Canada by PeP/CEC.
His music explores the realisation of sound organisms, which lead across their movements and their unusual logic to a particular type of energy.
