I noticed that with many of my sounds the descriptions I gave are changed . often to the worse in my opinion. I like to include the Plug Ins and mashines in the descriptions - not because I have endosing contracts with the companies (I don't!) but for displaying how I use this gear. But Tasos doesn't seem to like this.
Also some categorizing is wrong imo. I'm not into Acid jazz for instance but some of my drumloops are categorized as Acid Jazz now, I hate those labels and cupboards....

That´s a good suggestion to

That´s a good suggestion to add the gear-description in a comment! Categorization is a difficult topic - maybe we shouldn't overdo it. If somebody looks for a drumloop he will probably first look for BPMs and an overall style. But will he really look for an "acid jazz" drumloop - most people even don't know what that is.
Also some of my Soundart stuff was moved to the "Other Science Fiction" category - who will ever search/find that Category??
The approval routine is a good invention - I only waited over the night for my last sound-approval so that works faster than it did during the last weeks or so (or it was a coincidence :))
I´ll check some categories again and if I come up with something strange I'll email you Tasos...
One more thing: I always add the format I used like 48khz/24Bit - this info was also removed fromy many of my sounds . I find it very helpful to know what format the sounds come in - so please don't remove that info from the description anymore.
Argggghhh - I just changed the description of one of my loops and now it's pending again although it already has 1400 downloads. This system is getting a bit too complicated....

Hi Simon, Are you sure you

Hi Simon,

Are you sure you don't have endorsement..? :-) (Just kidding..)

Sorry about changing your description, but I feel that we need to make the descriptions more consistent across the site. That means removing the gear we use from the description, since most people don't list it and most users don't seem to care (apart from other creators). I recommend listing the equipment used as a comment to the sound, if you want. Also, we do need better guidelines, so uploaders are not confused.

About the categorization, I will make sure I look into it, since that was done by another collaborator and not myself.

In general, I think that Soundsnap should maintain the overall control of the descriptions and of course the approval of the sounds themselves, and I think you agree in this direction, since we are planning to move into a paid membership and revenue sharing model.

However, we have to make sure the editing is done very carefully, so that the categories and descriptions correspond correctly to the audio.

Thanks for raising your concerns- let me know if you agree.
