we need a new category...one for music that is longer than a sample but dosn't loop...
This is a possibility.
I am thinking of either making a new category just for music or only allowing short loops from now on and reject long musical pieces...
I am not sure what will be more beneficial.
On one hand, I don't want to make Soundsnap into an alternative to Myspace. This place was originally designed to get tools to use (samples, sfx)- not full tracks.
On the other hand, I don't want to discourage the activity I 've seen, which is that many people want to share longer pieces of music- occasionally over one or two minutes long.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this.
maybe if you posted an "announcement" aksing users to chime in on a new category..(music tracks...or somthing) i don't know how many uploads (or downloads)soundsnap recives that are this type of file...to warrant a new category...i just want to make sure that i was entering the required info properly...radio producers would like to have "bedding music" that is long enough to need verry little editting...i feel "myspace" is all abought the indivisual...and soundsnap is abought the sound comunity...verry different!
Well it depends if the user uploads the music in order to promote himself or if the musical piece is a useful piece for postproduction in the film/video/tv/gamedesigning - environment. I would not make any restrictions on that Tasos, that would be a shame.
Musical pieces/ambiences should not include lyrics and should not have been posted anywhere else imo.
thanx sampleconstruct...do you make any radio productions?? i have some projects (radio adds) i need someone to critique...thay are not appropiate for sound snap... maybe i can e-mail 2-3 to you and you could listen and let me know where to inprove?
Just contact me via the contact button on my Userpage - send me an email, I'll reply and you can send me the radio jingles. Half the time of my life I do a lot of film work for Cinema and TV including trailers, Logos, Recaps and so on. So I should be able to give you an objective opinion about your work :)
