What is Soundsnap?

Soundsnap is the best platform to find and share free sound effects and loops- legally. It is a collection of original sounds made or recorded by its users, and not songs or sound FX found on commercial libraries or sample CD's.

It was originally started by a small group of sound people from all over the world. Our common belief is that sounds and samples should be free for everyone to use in their projects, commercial or not.

Our users are a diverse mix of sound designers, sound artists, web game developers, filmmakers and music producers. Hobbyists and home video makers are welcome too.

What Soundsnap is NOT:

  • An alternative to Myspace, Limewire or BitTorrent.
  • A place to upload your band's songs or your favourite mp3's. Soundsnap is only for sound effects and loops.
  • A place you can upload or find sounds from commercial libraries. All sounds here are original- made or recorded by its users.

We encourage everyone to upload high quality sound FX and samples, helping us make every kind of sound available on Soundsnap.

We are looking for feedback from the community to constantly improve, and we depend on our users for that. So please feel free to leave a recommendation or feedback in the special section of our forum.

I hope you enjoy your time here and Happy Snapping!

After my first Sound uploads I think it's usefull for many users when I upload my Sounds in the Apple Loops aiff format.
So you can use it as normal audio like wav with PC/Mac Computers, but when you work with Logic Pro/Studio, GarageBand and Soundtrack Pro (MAC) or Battery 3, Kontakt 2/3, Plugsound Pro and other Software (PC & MAC) you take advantage of the extra Features like BPM and Key Change.

Is it possible to load wav and aiff up?
If not I think I change then for future uploads to AIFF Apple Loops.
It's more usefull.

Any input? :)

You can upload either aif or

You can upload either aif or wav.

But to have both versions, you would have to upload them separately, as different uploads.

I would recommend uploading only the wav version (appleloop or not) which is the most compatible for most computers.

Most people that can use aifs, dont mind wavs.
So it should be fine.

I just realised that the

I just realised that the Appleloops format is aiff- I 'm an old Logic user, before Appleloops..! :-)

Go ahead and upload aifs!
However, keep in mind that our system doesnt really like 24 or 32 bit aifs and can occasionally have issues with them.

So perhaps upload 44.1/16 bit aifs if possible.
