Your steam trains conjured the names of two US-made locomotives and I was wondering whether either was a Baldwin and/or Hudson engine.

Hudson or Baldwin? Sorry, I don`t know these, are they mics? And if so: no, its recorded with "soundman" Mk 2 In-ear-mics (and a simple MD-recorder with a soft working limiter built-in).

Karl-Really fine archive recording, a very strong and subdued Doppler effect variation moved carriage by carriage on through its trailing finesse and subsequent fade-out. I was very impressed hearing your aural close up. A HUDSON or BALDWIN?
