Hello. I've been uploading sounds for a couple weeks, but haven't gotten around to dropping by here to introduce myself.
My name is Matthew Peters and I was a classical cellist for 14 years before producing the Chicago Symphony radio broadcasts on WFMT for a couple seasons and studying sound recording and digital media at McGill University in Montreal. For the next few years I worked as a sound designer, composer and classical booking agent.
I also produce and perform under the name Mad EP. My styles range from hiphop to ambient to electronic to jazz and more. I also have an improvisation group in Chicago, the Manhattan Gimp Project [cello, flute/sax & serge modular synthesizers].. and a laptop storytelling trio in New York, the Psychasthenia Society. I now live in the UK with my wife & stepkids.
As evident by the sounds I have uploaded so far, I am a rabid bass.hed. I like my sub-frequencies big and nasty, but as a cellist, am simply addicted to all things bass clef. I have had fun creating these bass sounds especially for Soundsnap, but I have a lot more to come: ambiences, beats, and more.
This is a great site & resource. Big Big Ups to the Snappers who made this a reality!
