hello frens can you help me out pls...
I'd say that, if you are on a tight budget, then don't just blow it all on everything that you think you might need, and instead buy what you think is most important. I'd recommend starting off with some decent monitors. That way, you will be able to hear the shortcomings of your current equipment. It will also teach you to get better results with what you have now.
Then, when you've become used to that, then it's time to start upgrading things like the audio interface etc.
As for the midi keyboard: do you need a full-size one with hammer action, or just something to enter notes with. There's a pretty big difference in price between those two options.
Hope that helps
Guy
You could get the RME Fireface 400 as an Interface, it has excellent preamps so you can spare your money for something else. I use the RME FF 800 together with a Mac Pro 8-core and I'm very happy with the results I get with this combo. For me it has always been Logic as a DAW, currently running L 8.0.2 and it does everything I want but I do rely on my 3rd party Plug Ins for Mastering, Processing and so on. Check the Plugs and Software Instruments by iZotope, Sonnox, Native Instruments, Applied Acoustic Systems and see for yourself what you actually need.
If you want an analog Mixer, get a Mackie, they also have Mixers with built in Firewire/USB connection and their Preamps are definitely better than Behringer's.
Hello Allen,
I myself have the M-Audio Firewire 410 with a Mac G5. As a firewire interface it works very well, except the odd time that firewire activity (ie. hard drives) causes the box to stop working. Power cycling the unit fixes the issue so it's not a big deal. However the great thing is that for a low price you can cut 96k, 24 bit. I don't believe the mBox offers this resolution.
I use M-Powered Pro Tools 7.2, which is excellent. Very few bugs and is stable.
If you're on a budget, check out Berhinger mixers. Depends on your needs but I've had good experiences with them.
As far as budget mics, I find Rode has some good ones (NT2, NT4).
I would spend more money on preamps, like the Apogee Minime, Exceptional quality.
Good luck,
Paul Virostek
