To let you know who I am, I will say that I am a combination Educational/Professional Theatre Designer. My day job is Resident Designer/Technical Director for Fine Arts at a respected High School in Northern Illinois, USA. However, I also design and execute set/lighting/sound designs around the Chicago Metro area when I have the time and/or chance to.
From reading the posts on the other forums, I gather that I am joining at a pivotal time in SoundSnap history, without really knowing the history of SoundSnap.
I will say that the first reason I joined (and shelled out my 1 year membership dues of mucho greenbacks) was because, from first glance, this seemed like more of a sound design/creation/sharing community than other websites. I liked the idea that there was the opportunity not only to get the sounds I needed to make my production shine, but that I could share any original recordings I made with others who might need them (although, who among us hasn't already recorded a toilet flushing numerous times?).
While I am interested in possibly getting two bits here or there for anything I upload(If my credentials cut the mustard in March), I would really rather be able to upload and download any unique sounds that are available when I need them and share the original recordings that I capture with others.
