5.1 Recordings
I agree with John and SC above, i too only record in b-format now, with a Soundfield ST350 / Sonosax SX-R4 combo, and it works great.
Stereo material does not interest me anymore, but like John, i can also provide a lot of down-mixed material (5.1 or even stereo, as b-format allows up to 16 channels...).
I already told it here before, but IMHO a modern sound library should be able to stream multichannel material (that is discrete 5.1, but also double-M/S and b-format). But you'll have to rewrite your actual free/opensource flash player...
Bye.
Hi guys,
Its something we 've certainly thought about and would like to have.
However, our system isn't set up to accept 5.1 files and it wouldn't be that easy to make.
I honestly think that the work needed to make Soundsnap accept 5.1, probably wouldn't be worth it yet, since most people still record stereo only.
But I 'll definitely have that in mind for the future.
Do other people here record surround too?

I do a lot of my recording using Soundfield mics and I can easily transcode from B-Format to 5.1 surround. When I use these recordings in theatre shows, I use them interleaved as .wavex files, which most audio editors seem to able to cope with. Obviously, each file is three times as large as a standard .wav file, but it seems that both Macs and Windows platforms can handle these files transparently. Is there a way of making such sounds available on Soundsnap? I can provide demonstration files if required.
