Dear Community,

After months of discussions, we have concluded to the long-awaited reward system for sounds that have already been uploaded. I believe that its a fair system for giving something back to the people that supported us from the start. Here are the details:

1) All users that have uploaded sounds that are currently published, will receive a payment of $4 US Dollars per sound.

2) Contributors will need to agree to a non- exclusive distribution license. This means that users still get to keep the copyright of the sounds, they can use them and/or sell them elsewhere.

3) The first payment(s) will be given on March 1st, 2009 and all payments will be completed by October 1st, 2009.

4) Users that request a payment within February be put in a queue according to their user ID. So if user number 4592 and number 14833 requests a payment within February, user 4592 will get paid before user number 14833. (the user ID is the number at the end of the profile url like http://www.soundsnap.com/user/2462).

Following March 1st, users will be paid according to the date that they requested their payment. Payments will be done 'as time and budget allows', but we are dedicated to completing the payment process by October 1st, 2009.

6) Users will need a Paypal account in order to receive a payment. A direct wire transfer is also possible, but only for users with over 50 sounds that also have a bank account within the European Union. However, Paypal is generally recommended for everyone.

7) While most sounds that are on Soundsnap will be licensed according to the above model, occasionally some sounds may be reviewed and 'unpublished' before they 're licensed and paid for, depending on our usual standards for copyright, quality, originality, rarity etc.
